Transformed from a small fishing village to the islands most vibrant resort is Laganas. Known for its after hours scene attracting the young party crowd, it still has plenty to offer for all ages.
The famous Laganas beach is one of the longest in Greece, stretching to nine kilometres. Unfortunately no water sports are permitted due to the the famous Loggerhead turtles nesting.
There are however a few pedalos for hire and great boat trips from 'spot the turtles' to full day trips including visiting the famous Smugglers cove.
Laganas is loud and proud bringing karaoke nights, quizzes, fancy dress and plenty of clubbing, with some of the top nightclubs hosting world famous DJs with clubs staying open until sunrise!
All your essentials are covered with a wide range of shops selling jewellery, quality leather goods, souvenirs and small supermarkets for all your self catering needs.
There is a fantastic choice of fast food outlets, restaurants and beach bars serving up authentic Greek dishes, burgers, kebabs and British favourites including good old fish and chips by the sea. Leave the main street of Laganas and go onto the beachfront or venture to the outskirts of town and you will find a relaxed, quiet more traditional Greek meal.
Accommodation in Laganas mainly consists of self catering apartments and hotels. There are however all inclusive hotels on offer which will suit both young and young at heart! for a more relaxing evening take a short taxi or bus ride to the next door family resort of Kalamaki or pop into Zante Town for a Cosmopolitan evening treat.
