A small but idyllic holiday getaway, with lots on offer is Zante’s fishing village, Argassi. It is quickly becoming one of the most popular tourist areas of the island. With a short ten minute drive from Zakynthos Town, it boasts a small strip of sandy, golden beach and comes with an array of great places to stay, eat, drink and meander through the cobbled streets. It overlooks the beautiful green peaks of Mount Skopos in the distance, along with fantastic views out to sea.
All hotels are family friendly and provide a good selection of activities for all, including mini golf, which becomes very popular during the evenings, decorated with twinkling lights and fountains.
The sand and shingle beach measures just a kilometer long and prides itself with its warm shallow waters, making it the perfect spot for paddling and snorkeling for the kids. There are banana boat rentals, waterskiing and pedalos to take out to sea. Or perhaps just lounge on the beach in the sun, with a cool drink, from the selection of beachside bars.
The main street in Argassi is dotted with great spots to eat, with a fantastic selection of bars and restaurants offering delicious cuisine to suit all appetites. Eating Greek doesn't come better in Argassi, with some of the best taverna’s cooking good old-fashioned home dishes. During the summer nights many bars provide live entertainment, ranging from a quiet cocktail bar to a more livelier nightclub.
Shopping on Argassi main street offers quirky boutiques for the perfect holiday gift; beautiful hand-painted pots and leather goods, as well as clothes shops offering designer labels, or make up a picnic for the beach with delicious fresh baguettes and breads from the towns bakery.
